Guideline

Further action required

Comments/notes

The timing of sports day will be reviewed. Considerations may include re-scheduling it to run over a number of allocated mornings, or to be moved to a month with lower UV levels. However if sports day takes place between 11-3pm may – sept then sun cream protection will be observed, including re-applying SPF + after 2 hours, and shading facilities.

For all benches, fixed seating, equipment etc. during may – sept to be positioned in the shade

SunSafe awareness and skin cancer prevention is incorporated in to the curriculum for all years and ages especially prior to the start of summer e.g. PSHE, science, geography, etc.

There are regular SunSafe reminders throughout the school e.g. displays, posters etc.

For SunSafe information and guidelines to be included within the school newsletters from May - Sept

Incorporate the sun safe message in to assemblies – especially may - sept

Incorporate the sun safe policy in to tutor time – especially may - sept

Pupils and staff are encouraged to bring sun cream to school (SPF 30+) and reminded to apply it prior to going outside for break/lunch/PE etc.

Include SunSafe as a set agenda item at meetings (Governor, staff, parent etc.)
